Dominic John Colavecchio, 91, of Winsted, CT passed away October 12, 2017. He was the husband of the late Nancy McCarthy Colavecchio, who passed away in 1996. Dominic was born January 8, 1926, in Winsted, the son of the late John and Nancy (LaStoria) Colavecchio. During World War II, he interrupted his high school education to enlist in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Cone before returning to graduate from The Gilbert School in 1947. He was president of Capitol Products Company, a director of Winsted Memorial Hospital, Winsted Savings Bank (Northwest Community Bank), and Winsted's Community Chest (United Way). He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks and V.F.W. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Church and supporter of St. Anthony School. Dominic is survived by his children: Alan Colavecchio and his wife Pamela, of Winchester; Gary Colavecchio and his wife Donna, of New Hartford; and Lori Rogers and her husband James, of Colebrook. He has five grandchildren: Leigh Colavecchio (John) Connole, Thomas Colavecchio, Bridie Rogers (Casey) Allen, Jennie Rogers Webber and James (Britney) Rogers. He is great-grandfather to William Connole and Welles Allen. He also is survived by sisters Pauline DiBiasi and Evelyn Bordonaro; brother John Colavecchio and his wife Lynda; sister-in-law Jane Mahoney, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by two infant children, Patricia and Thomas Colavecchio; and his sister, Margaret Impelluso. He was blessed with several loyal friends. Friends may call on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 4 – 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. Joseph Church, Winsted at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Winsted with full Military Honors.
