Watertown: Gene Hubeny, 79, formerly of Bassett Rd., passed away Monday, September 22nd, in Jackson, Tennessee. He was the husband of Mary (Skully) Skerstonas of Bethel Springs Tennessee, and the late Jeanne (Dupont) Hubeny.
Gene was born in Bristol, April 6, 1946, son of the late John and Frances (Buzko) Hubeny. He was raised in Southington and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from Danbury State College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He began his career as a corrections officer and retired as a Parole Officer for the State of Connecticut, Department of Corrections. He also served as a Judicial Marshal.
Gene was an avid outdoorsman and a life member of the Bristol Fish and Game Club and The National Wild Turkey Federation. He passed his love of fishing and hunting on to his family and friends, teaching them all he knew.
Besides his wife, he leaves 2 daughters, Tina Nassetta-Williams of Middletown and Aline Hope of Thomaston, a stepson, Kevin Cribley of Bethel Springs, a stepdaughter, Lisa Johnson of Thomaston, and 6 grandchildren: Kyle Cribley, Jason Johnson, Paolo Nassetta, Shamira Williams, and Kailyn and Abigail Hope.
Friends and family may call at the Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown, Saturday, October 4th, from 10am-12pm. Graveside Services will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Platt Rd., Watertown
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Wild Turkey Federation, 770 Augusta Rd., Edgefield, SC 29824.

I remember Gene fondly from our years working together in the Judicial Marshals/ Special Deputy Sheriff´s Department. He was always helpful, friendly and hard working, an all around great guy. To Mary and the entire family, I´m am so very sorry to hear of Gene´s passing. May God give you comfort and strength in this time of great sorrow.Rest in peace. Gene!
