Linda Stickels Obituary

Stickels, Linda Chappuis
Linda Chappuis Stickels, 74, of McLean, passed away on September 3, 2018 at the Cortland Regional Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. She was born in Warren, Ct. on November 2, 1943 to Charles M. and Jennie L. Chappuis. She graduated from Wamogo High School in Litchfield, CT in 1962. In 1963, she married Allen E. Stickels, Jr. from Torrington, CT and they had 55 years of marriage together. In addition to Allen, she is survived by daughter Laurie E. Stickels and her husband Andrew Gubisch, of Lexington, MA; daughter Jennifer L. Teeter and her husband, Steve Teeter of McLean, NY; son Carl A. Stickels of Homer, NY. Four grandchildren, Sumner and Patience Gubisch; Carson and Grace Stickels. Nieces Rachel Stephens and Sharon Chappuis, nephews Joseph Whitehead and Jason Whitehead. She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers, George, Warren, Alan and Gordon Chappuis and sister, June Whitehead.
Allen and Linda owned and operated a dairy farm for 30 years, in Connecticut and later in McLean, NY. Linda was a fabulous baker and cook, known for her apple pie, macaroni and cheese and fried chicken. Her family was her greatest pride and joy. Linda will be remembered most for her kind and generous heart.
The family would like to thank Dr. Susan Cowdery of Cayuga Neurologic Services for the outstanding care and understanding she provided Linda and the family over the last nine years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Groton Ambulance Service, Groton, NY or the McLean Fire & Rescue, McLean, NY. A graveside service will be held at the New Warren Cemetery, Warren, CT on October 27. Condolences may be posted to Linda's guest book at www.zirbelfuneralhome.com

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. As time passes may you find peace in the memories you share, and comfort from the hope that God is close to the broken-hearted.
