Louis Petrunti Obituary

WINSTED >> Louis Anthony Petrunti, 82, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington following a long illness. He was the husband of Mildred (Buzinsky) Petrunti. Born in Winsted, Sept. 1, 1930, son of the late Rocco A. Petrunti and Mayme (Dimartino) Petrunti-Weaver, he had lived here all of his life.
Prior to his retirement, he had been one of the proprietors of Bob's Electric, a retail appliance store in Winsted. He then became a licensed real estate broker. He was a Gilbert School graduate, class of 1948 and served in the US Navy on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. Louie was also active in town affairs, having served for 41 years on the Recreation Board, a position directed toward children's activities. He loved sports of all kinds including tennis, paddleball and softball, was a fan of the UConn men's and women's basketball and sports, NY Giants Football and Red Sox Baseball. He was a Charter Member and Past President of the Winsted Jaycees, Charter Member and Past President of the Winsted Lions Club, Charter Member and Past President of the Winsted Area Ambulance Association, Member of the Knights of Columbus and was a sponsor of Bob's Electric Softball Team and the City League Basketball Team.
In addition to his loving wife of 60 years, he is survived by his children, "Rock" Rocco Petrunti of Mt. View, California, twins, Roxanne M. Petrunti and Cherylanne Petrunti both of Malden, Massachusetts and Luanne Petrunti Pinkham of Winsted; two grandchildren, Heather Lynn Pinkham, Jeremy Linwood Pinkham both of Winsted and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Anne Petrunti Narsiff Wholf.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to the staff and doctors at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, the staff at Torrington Health and Rehabilitation Center, the Foothills VNA and Home Care, Inc. and Dr. Roy Hitt for the exceptional, compassionate and personal care they provided to Louis throughout his illness.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph new Cemetery with full military honors. Instead of calling hours, the family invites you to join them for lunch with reflections and remembrances at the Parish Center after the burial.

Petrunti family- Very sorry for your loss! Louis was a family man with a kind heart. I know he was proud of his family and his accomplishments in this life! Sixty wonderful years with Mildred.........what a joy. Blessings to all of you!!
