MacPHERSON, RICHARD W. Richard W. MacPherson, 88, of Freeport, formerly of Kennebunk and Norfolk, CT, died Thursday evening, October 22, 2015 at his residence in Freeport with his family by his side. He was born in Bridgewater, Massachusetts on April 19, 1927, a son of Henry B. and Grace L. (Wiggin) MacPherson. He graduated from the Gilbert School, Winsted, CT, and Bentley College. He served in the Navy in World War II. For many years, he was Senior Vice President, Treasurer, and Controller of SCASCO, a petroleum distributor in Winsted, CT. He was also active in many civic organizations in the Norfolk and Winsted, CT areas, including past director of Winsted Memorial Hospital and Winsted Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of Norfolk Board of Education and past treasurer of Norfolk Curling Club. Since moving to Maine in 1987, he has been a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels. Mr. MacPherson is predeceased by his wife, Marie P. (Humphrey) MacPherson. He is survived by a son, Richard H. MacPherson of Portland; a daughter, Mandana M. MacPherson, of Freeport; a grandson, Aidan S. Trotter and several nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Forest View Cemetery, Winsted, CT with Rev. Avery C. Manchester, Associate Pastor – First Congregational Church of Greenwich, CT, officiating.
