Bradford Coleman Obituary

Bradford Charles

Coleman

1962 – 2007

In the quiet of the early morning of February 22, 2007, Bradford Charles Coleman passed away in Eugene, Oregon. He was holding his wife's hand with his two children, close family, and friends nearby. Brad was 44 years old.

Brad, a special human and spiritual being, was born April 21, 1962 in Coos Bay, Oregon and throughout his life would demonstrate the kind of human kindness most people strive for, but seldom achieve. He lived his life as a testimony to living fully and humbly while exhibiting the level of human compassion, wisdom, generosity and love capable by all.

Brad spent his early years in Oregon and Alaska where his enthusiasm for risk-taking and his humanitarian nature led to a childhood full of fun and adventure. This included such experiences as entering and winning a 46 mile race in Kodiak, Alaska, long distance running competitively for Thurston high school, and bicycling through Europe.

Before graduating from Thurston High School in 1980, Brad met his soul mate, Cindy Thompson. The love and commitment they had for each other was legalized July 22, 1985. They had two children together, Elyse and Nicholas. The family that they built over the years was filled with laughter, love, and passion for life.

Brad earned an Associates Degree in Construction Technology from Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. He started his career in residential construction followed by commercial construction including working for Hyland Construction the past 11 years. He was a master at his craft and took special care to share his enthusiasm with others.

Brad was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2006. As his time grew short he welcomed his friends and family to visit, engage and embrace the human spirit of strength and endurance he has lived true to all of his life.

Family and friends gathered for a Celebration of Life for Brad on Monday, February 26 at the Eugene Faith Center. The emotional event was in honor of a man who lived his life to a fullness of heart few have the privilege of living.

We love you Brad!

Hello Family of Brad Coleman,

Found this charm at an antique auction. Was wondering if this belonged to this Brad Coleman. If so, please let me know if any of the family members would like me to send this to them.

My condolences.

Hello,

My friend is into estate sales and antique bargains. He recently purchased a set of charms. One of the charms has Brad Coleman on the back of a St. Christopher. I believe this might be Brad's obituary. I will check this site again to see if anyone recognizes this charm and would like me to mail it back to them. (Sorry, I do not feel comfortable leaving my personal information on here.)

What can I say... It was an honor to be one of Brad's nurses during his final days. His sense of humor, joy for life, and love of his family were evident up until his last breath. I will never forget him, and, who knows, maybe someday we will meet again! I hope so....

To the Coleman Family, I was so upset to find out about Brad's passing. Brad was a kind and loving person, he will be sorely missed by all that knew him. We ran track and wrestled together at Kodiak High School. I will always remember the good times we had together.
May God's Love give you strength in this time of sorrow.

Our prayers and condolences from the Hansen family. Brad was a great commercial fisherman back in the time when fishing was the thing to do back in 1981. I enjoyed his love for life and the fun we had in Kodiak Alaska. Life is short and full of surprises we never know when it is our time. Brad will be missed by all. Were sorry for your loss. Yours truly, Jim & Donna Hansen

Cindy and family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

Brad was truly a special person. I first met Brad when I was driving home one day to our house in Fall Creek. We were planning to remodel our house and I had been looking for builders to do the work.

As I drove down the road to our place, I passed by a house that he was working on. In the driveway I saw a truck with the sign on it:
Humble Hammer

I thought to myself, this must be a good person to talk to about my house remodel work so I pulled in and that was how I met Brad. Brad, Humble Hammer.

Brad was the person we chose to do the work on our house. I can't describe how great he was to work with.

He showed up every day with a big smile on his face and always did the best work. At the end of the day, I would invite him in for a beer and by the time my husband got home from work, he would sit down with us and share in the conversation.

I felt confident that Brad did the best work on our house and I did not have to worry about the quality of his work ever.

The years passed and we would call on Brad to help us with smaller updating projects and even though he had moved on to a different job he would fit our small projects into his schedule on the weekends.

Eventually we sold our house in Fall Creek and moved into Eugene.

I was taking my daughter to dance one day and I ran into Brad at a convenience store. What a pleasant surprise for me there he was in all his glory with a big smile on his face.

What a gentleman and kind person he was.

I'm sure Brad will be missed by so many people. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.

My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Blessings,
Erin and Doug

AS a first cousin Brad and i saw each other on holidays once or twice a year. we had the most fun as a child, that could remember. one summer i went to lakeside and stayed a week. i will always remember the times we shared. as we grew up we went our own ways and lost touch. I pray for the family to gain comfort and peace.
