Delbert Evans Obituary
1963 - 2014
Delbert Savas Evans, 51 of Springfield, Oregon passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 in a worked related accident. He was born on March 29, 1963 to Jack and Georgia Evans in Cottage Grove, Oregon.
Delbert worked in his own business as a professional Timber Faller and attended the Eastside Faith Center in Eugene, Oregon.
Delbert graduated from Cottage Grove High school in 1981 and attended Central College in McPherson, Kansas where he met Lori Shannon. Delbert and Lori were married on November 23, 1984. Delbert enjoyed coaching baseball and loved fishing with his two boys and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lori; two sons, Malik 20 and Mazith 10; his parents, Jack and Georgia Evans; two brothers, Tom Evans and family, and Jim Evans and family; eight nieces and three nephews; eleven great nieces and six great nephews; numerous cousins, neighbors and friends.
Arrangements have been performed by Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday January 3, 2015 at the Eastside Faith Center, 95 Centennial Loop in Eugene, Oregon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delbert Evans Memorial Fund at any Northwest Community Credit Union branch location.

Lori and Kids. So so sorry for your loss. I just found out and my heart breaks over this. It's been a long time and at this moment I want to say he was a very sincere friend of mine. Today,through a friend of Central College,in asking the whereabouts of Delbert ,he informed me of his passing. Devastation and sorrow for him and his family hit me as I thought of our relationship playing baseball for Central College and the times we had palling around campus. On and off. I knew Laurie very well and have always looked back ,with time passing so fast,letting busyness keep us apart living opposite sides of this great country. He was what you call a true friend and I apologize for finding out 6 years later. I know logging for I have a family of Northeast loggers. All I know is that his boys and wife had a great father and husband. My deepest respect and condolences to Delbert and his entire family. I have already looked up in the sky and tearfully apologized for not finding out sooner. Love you Delbert. Our memories live on till we meet again. Jim jaeger,upstate New York.

I remember Delbert quite fondly from our sons' Babe Ruth days. He was a great coach, had such integrity, sportsmanship and exuded a quiet confidence that was embraced by players and parents. Our thought and prayers are with the family.

Delbert's service was a true tribute to who he was, the extensive network of people he touched, and the overwhelmingly positive legacy through which he will continue to live. I am one of hundreds who will miss him dearly, and remember him with a smile accompanying the tears in my eyes. The photograph included in this tribute is of a small group from the Cottage Grove Swimming family, who gathered after the service, and in Delbert's honor. Many more were there in spirit. Delbert will be missed, and remembered.
