John Bartram Obituary

John "Chub" E.
Bartram

John E. "Chub" Bartram was born September 16, 1948 in Corvallis, OR to Don & Maylene Bartram. John fought a courageous 68 day battle with cancer and died surrounded by his family and friends at home on February 6.

John is survived by his wife, Lynn; two sons, Scott (Kim) of Kindred, ND, Adam (Tina) of Veneta, OR; two daughters, Melissa (Randy) Dieckhoff of Junction City, Betsy (Matt) Bell of Eugene; six grandchildren, Kaylee, Emily, Sarah and Andrew Bartram, Oliver and Nathaniel Bell. He is also survived by brothers, Larry, Robert and Harley, many loving cousins, aunts, uncles, plus a multitude of wonderful and loyal friends.

One friend's description of John was "A veteran, a hunter and the most patriotic man I've ever met, we lost another John Wayne in John Bartram today." A wonderful description of John.

John loved and was very loyal to his family and friends. He loved going to Nashville and attending every NASCAR race he could get to, Nashville became a yearly event. He loved to travel the USA and we had just gotten back from a 6600 mile road trip. He loved riding quads, fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He was the one when you didn't have a certain tool or part you would call Chub and he would have it or know exactly where to find it. He loved sharing and having parties in his "man cave" of a shop. He loved his dogs and cats and you can tell they are missing him a lot.

John created our home "The V Bar" like only John could with the help of many family and friends over the last 25 years. The Motto at The V Bar is "No Bad Days".

John wanted a celebration of life to be held in September at The V Bar, dates will be announced later.

I will never forget the first time I saw John; I just started working at the Prairie Schooner in Aug. 1988. He said "That one's mine, leave her alone" and our adventure and the blending of two families began. I love you so much and will miss you forever.

And it was a bad day Feb. 6, 2016.

John was a fun guy to be around, always kind and cheerful.John made me my first "TANG" Harvey Walbanger as I was allergic to oranges. It was really good. This was at the wedding reception for Bob & Carol. I lived with Bartram's for a year and they were all like brothers to me. John you will be truly missed. Although hadn't see you in quite awhile, think of you often. Rest in Peace dear friend.

John, Sally & I first met you at our bar as a loyal customer. You and Lynn became good friends as we traveled together, had good dinners together, and partied together (mostly at your famous Barn!). God must have needed someone with toughness and integrity to help St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, so he chose you. We will miss you and will never forget you. God Bless You, Chub!
