Judy Beleke Obituary

Judy Boyce Beleke has exited Planet Earth -- not surprisingly, in her inimitable, fun-loving style. Despite living with ovarian cancer for the past six years, Judy made the most of every day, living each one with spunk, joy and a can-do attitude. She died without fear, knowing that death is yet another door opening into God's glorious journey.

Everyone who knew Judy loved her courage to be totally honest and authentic---topped off by her outrageous sense of humor. Judy was a fighter for what she believed in---along with having compassion and being full of love. She had a special way of touching every life that crossed her path. Also known for her unique writing talent, she loved regaling her family and friends with juicy letters and emails.

Born in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert H. Boyce (Lt. Commander, U.S.Navy),and Doris Kester Boyce, Judy started her travels as a toddler living the military life.

Judy was a life-long student of many disciplines, meeting each day as an opportunity to learn something new. Her first career (and one of her favorites) was as a stewardess for American Airlines (when planes had propellers!) She lived and worked all over the country--one of her favorite locations being the island of Maui. There and in California, she obtained real estate licenses, allowing her to assist developers in the coordination details of large, single-family neighborhoods and luxury condos--from concept to finish. To add a touch of glamour to her professional life, she modeled for her companies' commercial brochures.

After moving to California, she was administrative manager for McKeller Development company in La Jolla, during which time she worked with the Young Presidents Organization in Paris, France.

In 1990 Judy moved to Oregon, continuing her work directly assisting CEO's, concluding with Bob Schoellhorn of Marathon Coach. She spent her final working days as a traveling court reporter for the Oregon Office of Hearings and Appeals.

Judy is survived by her son, Scott Gourley of Springfield, OR; sister and brother-in-law, Jacki and Bobby Duncan of Henderson, Nevada; brother Bob Boyce of Prineville, OR, and estranged husband, Hank Beleke of Eugene, OR.
