Laurel Skelton Obituary

June 17, 1952 to March 19, 2012

Laurie (as Brad always called her) was born and raised in Eugene, OR to Margaret and Robert Schulz. Her childhood was filled with riding horses, and spending time at the family cabin in Florence. Her father taught her to fish and hunt, instilling a love of the outdoors that carried her through life. She graduated from South Eugene High School in 1970 and Oregon State University in 1982, with a Bachelor degree in Forestry.

Laurie and Brad married in August of 1985 at Forgeron Vineyards near their home in Veneta. They lived in many places around the state during college and their early careers, finally settling in Terrebonne in 1992. They built their dream home on 10 acres and filled their lives with horses, pets, gardens and an appreciation of all things outdoors. Golf, fishing, skiing, hiking, camping and cooking together, were but a few of their favorite ways to enjoy each others companionship. Their passion was travel, with adventures in Italy, Mexico, Canada and many trips in the states. Laurie worked for 27 years in the Forest Service, starting in recreation, and moving to forest management - it also helped them in finding many unique places to explore.

In April of 2011 Laurie was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer ? from that moment, she and Brad took every opportunity to live their remaining time together to the fullest. She passed peacefully in Brad's arms and in the company of her brother Bob, his wife Sue and two of their oldest friends Kevin and Laura a blessing. She has family and many friends who will miss her greatly.

A Celebration of a Life well lived will be held in Terrebonne location and time will be posted on the Caring Bridge website. Please send any donations in Laurie's memory to the Prineville Humane Society. Please sign our guestbook at www.redmondmemorial.com
