Lloyd Laroy Johnson passed away January 2, 2017. He was born September 14, 1926 to A.G. and Cora Johnson in Albany, Oregon, the youngest of five boys. The family later moved to Junction City and welcomed his younger sister Gladys. He graduated from Junction City High School where he was active in sports. He met Mary Elizabeth Knick at a dance and married her in 1954. They were married until her death in 1998. Then he married Mary Norma Whelchel in 1999. They were married until her death in 2010. He served in the Army in 1955, and then came home where he spent the rest of his life in Junction City. He raised turkeys and chickens and owned and operated a dairy farm. He loved his animals and they loved him back. He embodied the lesson that to be a farmer means being humble enough to be willing to ask for help and accept it, and then to reciprocate when his help was needed. He was spontaneous, full of humor and a love of life. A loving father, grandpa and great grandpa, he is survived by his son Jim Johnson of Eugene, Joe (Chris) Johnson of Junction City, Jennifer Johnson Barrett of Junction City, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Gladys (Dave) Olsen of Washington/Arizona, close family friend Linda Larson of Junction City and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Service to be held Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, Junction City.
