Lynn Bowers
1942-2018
Lynn Bowers, Eugene fabric artist, sculptor, potter, mask maker, costume designer and forestland dwelling activist died February 10 of metastatic cancer.
Lynn fearlessly and tirelessly championed ecological land use, toxin free forests and other Rights of Nature. She pioneered forest mapping, originated and was president of Forestland Dwellers, and Praying to Stop the Spraying, and was also president of Northwest Land Conservation Trust.
Lynn lived simply on her rural land. She had no computer, no microwave, no TV. She made her living by her own hands.
A graduate of Reed College, student of potter Marguerite Wildenhain and inspiration to those who struggle for children's health and safety, her kindness, diligence, courage and respect for all were constant and encouraging. She is survived by her husband Alan Foster.
Wildly loved by her family, friends, neighbors and co-conspirators, Lynn's spirit lives on.
A potluck gathering to celebrate Lynn's life and legacy will take place April 29, 4-7 pm at Hilyard Community Center.

Lynn lived a good life on her own terms, and did a lot for the community. I asked for her help several times over the years when timber companies were aerial spraying our neighborhood.
