Oscar T. Yarr

1921 - 2013

Oscar T. Yarr, 92, of Coburg, OR passed away Nov. 15, 2013, of complications from Congestive Heart Disease. He was born April 1, 1921, in Port Townsend, WA to Thomas and Helena (Anderson) Yarr. Oscar graduated from Chimicum High School, WA and attended the University of WA on a football scholarship. He served in the US Army during WWII as a Radio Intercept Operator and participated in the Rhineland Campaign in Europe. He lived in San Jose, CA until 1964, then moved to Santa Cruz, CA until the mid-1980's where he retired to Incline Village, NV then moved to Oregon in 1990. He lived briefly in Pleasant Hill, OR before moving to Coburg, OR to live with his son Rick. Oscar worked 30 years for Bariteaus in Santa Cruz and retired from Dominican Hospital, Santa Cruz in 1985 as a Maintenance Engineer. He married Rose Gemma on May 25, 1946, in Omaha, NB. He is survived by his son, Thomas Yarr, Reno, NV; son, Rick Yarr, Coburg, OR; son, Daniel Yarr and wife Joyce, Maui, HI; daughter, Patty Yarr, Santa Cruz, CA; brother, Robert Yarr, Port Hadlock, WA; 4 grandchildren: Adrian Yarr, Sarah Schmitt, Faye Yarr, Jeff Yarr; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Yarr, on July 17, 2005 and son, Terry Yarr in 1997. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at the Coburg IOOF Hall, Coburg, OR. A private Inurement will be in Chimicum, WA.
