Anita Johnson Obituary
GRATIS — Anita L. Johnson, 88, of Gratis, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at Maple Gardens Nursing Center in Eaton.
She was born June 24, 1936, in Gratis, to the late John Albert and Jeanette (Miller) Knabe. Anita was a 1954 graduate of Gratis High School; she retired from NCR Corporation in Dayton; and was a very active member of Gratis United Methodist Church where she played the piano for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband David Johnson; son Mark Mobley; grandson Nathan Hart; brothers Lowell Knabe and David Knabe; sister Mary Johnson and her special little dog "Tinkerbelle."
She is survived by her daughter Gwen (Steve) Hart Franz; son Matthew (Sherri) Mobley; daughter-in-law Susan Hoberty Mobley; grandchildren Lauren, Micah, and Alicia; great-grandchildren Cade, Bryce and Violet; stepchildren Tracy Johnson, David (Rebecca) Johnson, Jeffrey (Carrie) Johnson and Dianna (Dwight) Walter; step-grandchildren: Jacob, Matthew, Anna, Zachary, Esme, Jasmine, Jude, Jonathon, Kathleen and David; special nephew Kristopher (Tracie) Johnson; and several other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Gratis United Methodist Church, 9 South Ada Doty Street, Gratis, with Pastor Gary Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis. Gard Funeral Home (formerly Lindloff-Zimmerman), Gratis is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Gratis United Methodist Church.
