ELDORADO — Donald L. Zumbrun, 79, of Eldorado, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton.
He was born Dec. 1, 1942, in Dayton, to the late Ralph Zumbrun and Garnet (Zumbrun) Rice and was raised by John and Effie Locke. Don medically retired from General Motors in 1985 and continued working as a local locksmith for many years. He formerly served on the Lewisburg Fire and Rescue; was a special deputy with the Preble County Sheriff's Department; and also served on the Trotwood Rescue Squad and Verona & Lewisburg Police Departments. He was a lifetime member of Lions International and Eaton Lions Club and Lewisburg Lions Club, where he served as the Ohio 13-H District Governor 2004/2005. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in New Paris.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter Brittney Caldwell.
He is survived by Betty Fitzwater Caldwell of Eldorado; sister Joanne (Don) Whipp of Lewisburg; brother Marvin (Bonnie) Zumbrun of New Hope; sister Bev Fields of Eaton; sister Margie Jo Welch of Eaton; brother Steve (Pam) Rice of Florida; sister Susan (Jim) Heeter of Florida; son Jeff (Amanda Baker) Zumbrun of Eaton; daughter Brigette (Ray) Roberts of Tennessee; daughter Shari (Mike) Kosier of Eaton; son Robert (Melissa) Caldwell of West Manchester; son Tim (Chrissy) Caldwell of Lewisburg; grandchildren David, Joey, Dakota, Grady Caldwell, Ashley (Nick) Waldbillig, Kaitlin (Brandon) Day, Kian Caldwell, Trena Caldwell, Brianne Kosier, Austin Kosier, and Ethan Kosier; great-grandchildren Kylie Caldwell, Gracelynn Caldwell, and Braxlee Day; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 W. Main Street, Eaton, with Pastor Mike Shaeffer officiating.
Burial will be at Castine Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, from 5-8 p.m. with a Lions Club memorial service to take place at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
