Iona Wynkoop Obituary
EATON — Iona Mae Wynkoop, 97, of Eaton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at the Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton with her loving family by her side.
She was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Gratis, to the late William Ray and Roxie Mae (Haas) Caplinger. She was a graduate of Lanier High School; was a lifetime member of the Gratis Church of the Brethren in Gratis and retired from Parker-Hannifin Corporation in Eaton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband John Notoras; brothers Rodger Caplinger, Ronald Caplinger, Gene Caplinger and Robert Caplinger; sister Betty Martin, and son-in-law Alan Pennington.
She is survived by her husband James Wynkoop; daughters Beverly (Bill) Swihart, Sharon (Jim) Shute and Rhonda Pennington; step-children Wayne (Melissa) Wynkoop, Mary Jo (John) Waite and Anna Marie (Michael) Hawkey; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Annette Caplinger and Lucille Notoras, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Gratis Church of the Brethren 203 N. Ada Doty Street, Gratis, with Pastor Shawn Wilges officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis.
Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Eaton, is assisting with arrangements.
