Norma Gels Obituary
EATON — Norma A. Gels, 87, passed away peacefully Monday, April 19, 2021 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 28, 1934 in Eaton to the late Emile and Elma (Ross) Straight. Norma was a member of Visitation Catholic Church in Eaton and St. Anne's Sodality.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Tom Hayes; sisters Vera Phibbs and Mary Lee Miller; and brother Joe C. Staight. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert Gels, of Eaton; daughter Jane (Ron) Mobley of Eaton; son Jeff (Teresa) Gels of Eaton; daughter-in-law Marie Hayes; grandchildren: Emily (Kevin) Schaeffer, Carrie (Bryan) Baldwin, Erin (Angus) Acton, Tommy Hayes, Jr., Jacob (Katie) Hayes, Nikki (Aaron) Ivey, Annika Gels, and J.T. Gels; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 26 at Visitation Catholic Church, 407 East Main St., Eaton, with Father David Doseck officiating. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Anne's Sodality or Buckeye State Sheriff's Association.
