GREENVILLE — Ruth A. Goodpasture, 87, of Greenville, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, at Brookdale Senior Living in Greenville.
She was born Sept. 5, 1938, in New Paris, to the late Herbert and Huldah (Mt. Castle) Newman. Ruth was a 1956 graduate of Jackson High School in Campbellstown, and later graduated from Kankakee Community College in Kankakee, Illinois, with an Associate's degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse, retiring as the nursing supervisor at Riverside Hospital in Kankakee. She was an avid bridge player, even rising to the rank of Grand Master; she also enjoyed tennis and golf. She attended Friendswood Christian Church in Illinois for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert M. Goodpasture; sisters Donna Goodwin and Betty Barker; and brothers Gene and Jim Newman.
She is survived by her daughters Lisa Goodpasture McIntosh and Lori Thompson, both of Bourbonnais, Illinois; grandchildren Anna (Michael) Ebrada and Matthew Thompson; great-grandson Kai; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation Friday, Dec. 5, from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 226 W. Main Street, Eaton, with Pastor Tom Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Twin Creek Chapel Cemetery in West Manchester.

I worked with Ruth & this saddens me so much, she was working the day my husband got the call for his Kidney/Pancreas transplant I am going to miss her. I wondered where she went after she retired

Worked 3 west for years and shared the floor with Ruth who was in Micu. When I got pulled to that unit she always do helpful and use to teach me how to read Ekg strips easier. Our nursing world was much better with ruth.
