Francis Maurice Brauer, born February 22, 1929, 96, in Lawrenceburg, Ind., passed away peacefully at Ridgewood Health Campus on November 15, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary Therese (Delez) Brauer, his parents, Joseph S. Brauer and Bertha M. (Volz) Brauer, brothers, Joseph B. And Walter H. Brauer and granddaughter, Gillian Therese Maxfield.
Frank is survived by five children, Christine (Stephen) Mueller, Frank (Mary Ann) Brauer, John ( Marilyn) Brauer, Karen Brauer (Michael) Mueller, and Laurie (Bruce) Maxfield, 15 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Burris of Cincinnati, Ohio, sister-in-law Virginia Brauer of Brownsburg, Ind., and brothers-in-law, James Krecek of Lafayette Ind., and best friend, John Lever of Tucson, Ariz.
Frank graduated from Purdue University, earned his Masters in Electrical Engineering from UC, and designed and developed defense communications projects at Crosley/Avco, Magnavox, and Cincinnati Electronics. He and Therese loved classical music and shared season tickets to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra with their lifelong friends from the St. James Discussion Group.
Frank (also known as Fritz to his family) worked long hours and especially looked forward to his three week family summer vacations traveling by car and trailer all over the United States and Canada to show his kids just how big and beautiful America is. He loved to take pictures at family occasions so much so that he was often in other people's pictures with his camera clicking away. His legendary "slide shows" after each child's engagement introduced the future in-laws to the family. To his grandkids, as they got to be always hungry teenagers, Papa Fritz was also known for funny little comments like "We're not trying to fill you up, we're just trying to keep you alive."
In retirement Frank and Therese spent many Februarys with Therese's sister, Mary and her husband, John Lever in Tucson and in return hosted them in Cincinnati the following Octobers. After Therese's death in 2019, Frank resided close to his family at Ridgewood Assisted Living and Legacy.
