MICHAEL KNUE Obituary

MICHAEL KNUE Michael Edward Knue, 74, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 5, 2025. He was born at Good Samaritan Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio, on April 11, 1950, to the late Edward and Virginia (Beckmeyer) Knue. Michael was married to the love of his life, Connie (Clark) Knue, on June 10, 1972, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and four children. Michael was well-known in the community as the founder and sole proprietor of Mike's Garage, where he earned a stellar reputation as a skilled mechanic and friendly face. His work ethic and dedication were also evident in his years as a Boilermaker with Union Local 105 and Local 374, along with several other roles, and later, his 19 years of service to the City of Lawrenceburg before his retirement. Michael was a lifetime member of St. Lawrence Church and the Lawrenceburg Eagles. He had a passion for traveling and was fortunate to see many incredible places throughout his life. Known for his warm heart and generous spirit, Mike's life was filled with many passions. He had a special love for remote control boats, often running them in the Bottoms, and he enjoyed leisurely golf cart rides, often accompanied by his beloved dog, Hazel. Mike was truly a people person - he never met a stranger and was always there for anyone in need, offering a helping hand without hesitation. His most cherished tradition was the annual Eddie Knue Toy Giveaway, where he blessed the children of Lawrenceburg with gifts during the Christmas season. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Connie; his children Greg (Dee) Knue, James (Brittany) Knue, and Melinda Knue Scott; and his eight grandchildren: Brittany (Alex) Dixon, Dakota (Shelby) Knue, David Scott, Kendra Jenkins, Olivia Knue, Bella Knue, Nathan Scott, and Kennedy Knue. He also adored his four great-grandchildren: Ronyn Knue, Lola Dixon, Ryot Knue, and Shooter Morehead. He is survived by his sisters Melinda (Gary) Thompson and Millicent (Steve) Prostick. His brothers-in-law Jim Sedler, Billy (Kathy) Clark, and Kenny (Carol) Clark, and his sisters-in-law Donna Sherman and Clint, and Bonnie (Bobbie) Roberts. Michael leaves behind several extended family members, including Tony, Stephanie, Ayden, and Gabe Broughton; Tammy Knue; Spring Knue; Sarah Hughes; Mike Jenkins Jr.; Dale West, and many nieces and nephews and very close friends. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his son, Eddie, his beloved dog, Hazel, sisters Margaret (Melvin) Knigga, Mary Caldwell, and Martha Sedler, son-in-law Dave Scott, and brother-in-law Dale Sherman, and sister-in-law Jennifer (Ronnie) Hudson, and nephew Little Dale Sherman. Michael's legacy of kindness, generosity, and community spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a void that will never be filled but a memory that will be cherished forever through simple and beautiful things. He was a solid example and giving man. Family and friends were received on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Greendale, Ind. Funeral services were held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Lawrenceburg, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Father John Hollowell officiating. Interment followed in Greendale Cemetery, Greendale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eddie Knue Toy Giveaway, an organization close to Mike's heart, or the American Cancer Society.
