SUE JONTZ Obituary

SUE CAROL (PRIBBLE) JONTZ Sue Carol (Pribble) Jontz, Brutus, Mich., passed away peacefully on January 25, 2024, in Carmel, Ind. She was a graduate of Lawrenceburg High School (IN) and Butler University where she earned her B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Education and was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. After graduation she taught second grade at Greendale Elementary and later on third grade in Lawrence Township Schools in Indianapolis. Sue is survived by Dr. Jon Jontz, her husband of 58 years; her children Jane Jontz (Tom Rosswaag), Kay Brown (Bill), Jay and grandchildren Chris Brown (Allie), Tom Brown, Will Jontz, Matt Jontz, great-grandchild Reid Brown and brother Jim Pribble. She was preceded in death by parents Flossie and Galen Pribble, sister Jean Cook and brother Paul Pribble. Sue, loving mother and grandmother, devoted her life to raising her children and providing guidance, wisdom and love to the entire family throughout her life. She delighted in the family gatherings where she displayed her excellent cooking and baking skills. It was also common throughout her entire adult life to entertain people, both young and old, by welcoming them in her and Jon's home. She always maintained a steady, gentle and caring way about herself displaying grace and kindness to all those she knew and met. Sports were also a big part of her life as she supported and encouraged her son Jay throughout his athletic running career at both Carmel High School and Indiana University. Sue was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Indiana Hoosiers, Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts. Upon Jon's retirement from the medical field in 1995, they moved to Burt Lake, Mich. They enjoyed numerous winters in Bonita Springs, Fla., as well as taking trips throughout various parts of the world. Jon, Jane, Kay and Jay want to thank all who provided love, support, and encouragement to both Sue and the entire family throughout her lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held at Flanner Buchanan Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive, Carmel, on February 17 with visitation to begin at 10 a.m. and funeral services at 11 a.m. Memorial gifts are encouraged to be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
