Allan Hill Obituary

Rev. Allan J. Hill
October 19, 2025
Rev. Allan J. Hill, a devoted priest who dedicated his life to serving the Lord, peacefully passed away on October 19, 2025, at the Msgr. Bojnowski Manor in New Britain, Connecticut. Born on June 3, 1944, in Bristol, Connecticut, Fr. Hill's life was marked by an unwavering commitment to his faith and the communities where he served.
Fr. Hill's educational journey began with his studies for the priesthood at Immaculate Conception Seminary in New Jersey and continued at the prestigious Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome. His calling was fulfilled when he was ordained as a priest within the Augustinian Recollect Religious Order by Bishop Alphonse Gallegos, Auxiliary Bishop of Sacramento, at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, New York, on September 24, 1983.
Throughout his priestly ministry in the Archdiocese of Hartford, Fr. Hill served multiple parishes, including St. Francis Xavier in New Milford, St. Peter in Torrington, St. Stanislaus in Meriden, St. Bernard in Sharon, and Our Lady of Loreto in Waterbury. His leadership was felt profoundly during his tenure as Administrator at Sacred Heart in Kent and Immaculate Heart of Mary in Harwinton. In 1998, he took on the role of Pastor at Immaculate Heart of Mary and served with grace and dedication until 2010. He later assumed the position of Administrator at Our Lady of Loreto/St. Stanislaus in Waterbury, continuing to nurture his parishioners until his retirement from active ministry in 2019, when he was granted senior priest status.
Fr. Hill is survived by his three brothers: Donald E. Hill of Bristol, CT, Raymond P. Hill and his wife, June of Florida, and David E. Hill of Bristol, CT as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Hill, and his mother, Cora (Beattie) Hill.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Church, located at 33 Queen Street, Bristol, CT, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the same location on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Archbishop Christopher J. Coyne, principal celebrant, followed by interment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 384 Ann Street, Meriden, CT.
In lieu of flowers, Fr. Hill has requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph School, 335 Center St., Bristol, CT 06010. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT 06790 ( www.cookfuneralhomect.com ).

Our deepest condolences to all Father Allan's family. Although we have lost track of family members after our parents have passed I will always cherish the memories I have when we weregrowing up. Our prayers go out to all my cousins during these trying times. May he RIP with the Lord .

Father Allan was a wonderful and generous priest. I was his cantor for a few years and would have many conversations with him during that time. I will also miss his sense of humor. My sincerest condolences to his family.
