Chris Marino
Chris Marino, age 74, of Goshen passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital after a long illness.
Chris was born on February 4, 1951 in Waterbury CT, son of the late Doris Ouellette and Joseph Marino. He was a 1969 graduate of Wamogo High School and served in the U.S. Navy stationed aboard the USS Ponce during the Vietnam Conflict.
As owner of the popular Autumn Gun Works Inc., Chris was an avid outdoorsman and member of Northwestern Connecticut Sportsmen's Association, Foothills Sportsman, NWCT Sportsman's Council (past president/secretary), NWCT Sportsman's Conservation Land Trust, CT Conservation Advisory Council, Coverts Habitat Program Coordinator, NRA Benefactor, American Legion, Goshen Agricultural Society, Naugatuck Valley Beagle Club, Heritage Foundation, and The Grand Lodge of Ancient Free And Accepted Masons (Seneca Lodge 55), among others.
He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and time spent at his cabin in Sharon.
In addition to his wife, Susan Ballarin Marino of 33 years and her children Cory (Nathaly) Chamberlain and Tara (Mike) Geschwind, he leaves his sister, Frances (Frank) D'Amico, 2 brothers, Gary (Sharyl) Marino, and Joseph Marino.
Calling hours will be Friday, August 22, at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd. Litchfield, from 5pm to 7pm with a Masonic Service at 6:45 pm. Church services will be Saturday, August 23, at Friendship Baptist Church, 441 Torrington Rd., Litchfield, at 1pm with burial directly following with Military Honors in St. Anthony Cemetery, Whites Wood Road, Litchfield.
Due to severe allergies the family has requested no flowers or fragrances at the calling hours or service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chris's memory can be made to Friends of Connecticut Sportsmen, P.O. Box 2351, Shelton, CT 06484. Although we didn't know each other we both belong to the family of the UNITED STATES NAVY. That being said, Chris Marino you stand properly relieved WE have the watch now, RIP May you have Fair Winds and a Smooth following.
