Gerald "Jerry" Francis Miller Sr., formerly of Naugatuck, CT, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence on September 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 9, 1940, in Waterbury, CT, Jerry lived a full and vibrant life of 85 years.
After proudly serving in the U.S Air Force, he began his career in the banking industry. A 50-year run in banking shows that he loved what he did, finally retiring from Webster Bank in 2012.
A die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Red Sox, and UConn women's basketball team, Jerry could often be found either at McBrides Restaurant & Apizza with his best friend watching a game while eating their favorite pizza and having some drinks, or at home watching games with his family in the much-loved Man Shed. His greatest delight, however, was watching his grandson Johnny Miller play baseball. Many parents still remember hearing him shout "LET'S GO JOHNNY MILLER!" from the stands.
He also enjoyed watching golf. But enjoyed playing it even more. For 30 years, he was also a dedicated member of a golf league with his best friends, always staying late for the 19th hole. Gin & Tonic in hand toasting a great day with his great friends, whom he would also enjoy a golf vacation with annually.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Francis Opalak Miller, his beloved wife MaryJane, his brother Dave "Suds" Miller, and his lifelong best friend Tommy Galvin.
He is survived by his son J.R. Miller and his wife Julie, his sister Janice Brouillard and her husband Gerry, his grandson Johnny Miller who was the light of his life, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss his generous spirit, his laugh, and the occasional "E E Aw Aw" and "Gee Balz".
As Jerry embarks on his next great adventure, we can only hope there's a Gin and Tonic waiting, a good pizza, and a heavenly sports channel broadcasting all his favorite games.
Rest easy, Jerry-you've earned it.
