Helen A. Nicolo
Naugatuck- Helen A. (Novosalski) Nicolo, wife of the late Anthony G. Nicolo, passed away peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. She was 95 years old.
Born in Naugatuck, CT, on March 22, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna (Verceski) Novosalski. Helen was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck. She, along with her beloved husband, Anthony Nicolo, were the former owners of several local eateries, including The Robinwood Luncheonette in Waterbury, The Country Gate in Middlebury and Continental Catering located at the Continental Room in Naugatuck.
Helen leaves her loving daughter, Elaine Carey, and son-in-law, Tom Carey of Naugatuck; her two adored grandchildren, Shane and Kyle Carey, both of Naugatuck; her brother, Louis "Dee Dee" Nova, and sister-in-law, Jill Nova of West Hartford; her sister, Carol Santa Barbara "Babe" of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen, a.k.a. Babci, Helcia, Ga Ga, Mrs. N, Auntie Helen, Mom and Ma, lived a fun filled life overflowing with adventure, love, happiness and a zest for life. She enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City and the islands with her husband, daughter and friends throughout the years. She was the life of the party, always laughing and having a good time. She was very considerate, kind, creative, compassionate, loving, thoughtful, and always thinking of others before herself. Helen was always excited to take a trip to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun Casino as she thoroughly enjoyed playing the slots and never wanted to leave. She also loved music, especially listening to Andrea Bocelli. Babci, to her grandsons, Shane and Kyle, meant the world to her and they endlessly embraced her with so much excitement, love and happiness. And, oh how she loved and treasured her one and only daughter, Elaine Joy, who brought endless "Joy" to her world daily. Ma was truly an Angel from Heaven whom will deeply be missed by all those who have touched her heart.
Those were the days,
my friend.
We thought they'd never
end.
We'd sing and dance
forever and a day…….
"Those Were the Days" -Mary Hopkin
