Kathleen Ackley Obituary

Kathleen Ackley, 88, of Torrington, passed away December 16, 2025, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Born in Waterbury, October 16, 1937, daughter of the late Matthew and Helen Goodman Shanahan, she attended Saint Francis School and Torrington High School. She worked for The Torrington Company for 30 years, Broad Street Plant and Thomaston and Watertown Plants as a quality analyst technician. After retirement, she loved to travel and go on cruises, venturing to Alaska, New Orleans, and Ireland, and many places of special interest.
She is survived by her special and loving son, Kenneth Ackley, special niece and nephew, Christina Frigo Shanahan and Shawn Shanahan, and great-niece, Emily Shanahan, who was the light of her life. She also leaves several other nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her loving daughter, Cherie Lee Ackley, and sister, Irene Stengel'
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 30, at 11 AM at Saint Francis Church, with burial following at Saint Peter Cemetery. Online memorials, www.phalenfuneral.com .

Ken, having you as a life long friend gave me the bonus of knowing your Mom and having her become a true friend also. She was always positive, whatever life threw at her. Her love for you and Cheri was deep and unending. I will miss our visits and her response when I knocked on her door... Come on in and put the kettle on! Love from Me, Dana and Bob
