Lucille Young Obituary

Lucille C. Young
November 9, 1941 – October 12, 2025
Lucille (Lucy) C. Young passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 9, 1941, in New Hampshire, and later made her home in Torrington, Connecticut, where she built a lifetime of love, kindness, and community.
Lucille married the love of her life, Henry J. Young, and together they shared 40 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2001. Their home was always filled with care and compassion-they opened their hearts as foster parents to more than 40 children, providing comfort, stability, and love to every child who came through their door.
After several years devoted to foster parenting, Lucille worked at Torrington Distributors, where she crafted airline seat covers with great pride and attention to detail. Following her retirement, she continued to stay active in her community as a concierge at Keystone Place at Newbury Brook in Torrington. She cherished her time there, enjoying the company of residents and the camaraderie of her coworkers, especially during her weekend shifts.
Lucille was a woman of many talents and endless generosity. She loved knitting, sewing, reading, puzzles, making jam, and baking treats to share. She loved watching the Red Sox and UConn basketball. Always ready to lend a hand, rides to appointments, or a friendly visit. Her garden was one of her greatest joys, where she found peace and happiness tending to her flowers and plants.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Keystone and St. Vincent Hospital for their kindness and care during her final days. Your compassion and love brought her comfort and will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
Lucille will be remembered for her warm heart, her tireless kindness, and the countless lives she touched.
Lucille was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry J. Young, her infant twins, John and Kenneth, and her grandson, Michael.
She is survived by her children, Henry J. (Karen) Young Jr. of Waterbury and Tracy (John) Driscoll of Salem, Wisconsin; her granddaughter, Melissa (Ray) Roulin of Torrington; and her great-granddaughter, Carina Roulin of Torrington. She is also lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held at a later date.

Our Aunt Lucille was a most beautiful person inside and out. She will certainly be remembered for her kindness to others and devotion to her family. She and Uncle Henry were guiding lights for anyone looking to find happiness in the company of others. I will always remember the loving care they conveyed to all the foster children they brought into their home. What an incredibly special family they created. As a teenager I worked with Uncle Henry doing road construction and he would not allow me to call him "uncle" .... he wanted to be closer that that. He was soo special. Aunt Lucille was always an incredibly compassionate person and treated me as if I were a part of her immediate family. I loved her dearly and never visited Ct without making time for at least a short visit with her.
To Hank and Tracey and their entire families, my family extends our most sincere condolences for your loss and know that we will all share wonderful stories and memories of her as long as we are on this earth.
May Aunt Lucille and Uncle Henry look down upon us all and smile.
Love Richard (Ricky) C Gauthier Jr. Debbie and Brian
