Pamela Pratt Obituary

Pamela H. Pratt
"Beloved mother, grandmother, sister & aunt"
Pamela H. (Hughes) Pratt, 73, of Waterbury, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Danbury Hospital after an illness.
Pam was born in Queens, New York on October 23, 1951, to the late Richard and Joan (Howlett) Hughes.
Pam leaves behind to cherish her memory her two daughters, Erin Pratt-Violette (and her husband Kurt) and Colleen Pratt-Bouchard (and her husband Addison), both of Massachusetts, as well as a brother, Peter Hughes and his wife Carol of Virginia, brother-in-law Richard Singleton of New York, and her former husband Alan Pratt of Bridgeport. She also leaves behind her six beloved grandchildren: Andrew, Ashley, Chase, Garrett, Bran and Hollis. She was predeceased by her sister, Michele "Shellie" Hughes-Singleton. She also leaves nephews and nieces Chris, Kristen, Tim and Michaela as well as several cousins.
With an MS and MSW, Pam had a lifelong career in mental health, including as a therapist at Family Services of Greater Waterbury, Saint Mary's Hospital as director of outpatient mental health and New Britain hospital. Pam and her former husband, Alan, opened their home and hearts to over 30 foster children on an emergency placement basis.
One of her many passions was quilting, working closely with Quilts that Care making quilts for cancer patients. She also spent years with the Girl Scouts of America, rising to the challenge and being a leader for her daughters' troops.
Besides her family, one of Pam's greatest callings was working with the American Red Cross Disaster Team, joining over 30 deployments across the country. This summer she celebrated 20 years with American Red Cross, most recently as Mental Health Team Lead.
Pam's childhood summers were spent horseback riding and swimming at Lake Iroquois in Hinesburg, Vermont, a retreat she enjoyed every summer because of the deep and lasting friendships she nurtured.
Arrangements: Calling hours for Pam will be held on her birthday, Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. A funeral service will commence at the conclusion of calling hours at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Oh my goodness! I am so very sorry to learn of Pam´s passing. She was such a caring and special lady.

I work indirectly with Pam at Saint Mary´s Hospital somewhere between 2005 and 2015.

I admired Pam´s joy for life and how much she did over the years as a Red Cross emergency volunteer, generously giving her time all over the country to help folks during natural disasters.

My most sincere condolences to Pam´s precious daughters and grandchildren along with her brother and all of Pam´s family and dear friends.

May the family find peace and comfort in knowing how much Pam meant to all of us in Western Connecticut Red Cross. I first met Pam in 2020 when I first started volunteering at the Red Cross. Together we installed many smoke detectors in WBRY and surrounding communities. We worked on many local disaster relief responses and attended meetings and training sessions in the CT/RI region. She was a mentor to me as well as many others. I´m a better responder because of her. We had a standing joke about responding with my cane. I will miss you Pam.
