CHESHIRE- Roberta (McBride) Berglund, 96, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Elim Park Baptist Home in Cheshire, where she resided for 14 years. She was married to Francis Berglund for 42 years before his death in 1994.
Roberta was born September 16, 1929, in Waterbury, daughter to the late Robert and Ethel (Harris) McBride. She graduated from Sprague Grammar School and Wilby High School before attending Naugatuck Community College. Over the years, Roberta was employed by the Watertown School System food program, Lorraine Gardens as a floral designer, and Thomaston Savings Bank as a secretary. She was a 50 year cancer survivor after being invited to National Institutes of Health for chemotherapy.
Roberta is survived by her son David Berglund and his wife Bobbi-Ann of Waterbury, her daughter Janet McGrath and husband Gary of Cheshire, her Grandson Jonathan Berglund of North Springfield, VT, her sister Eunice Johnson and husband David of Cheshire and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Roberta was predeceased by her sisters June Andrews of Chandler, AZ and Jane Harris of Chambersburg, PA.
Burial is private and at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery in Watertown. A memorial service will be held at Elim Park, 150 Cheshire, CT 06410 at a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roberta's name to the Elim Park Resident Benevolent Fund, 150 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire, CT 06410 or the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708.
