Robert Schaible Obituary

Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather, Robert (Bob) Schaible passed away peacefully at Pathways Hospice on Monday the 26th of November, 2018 of lung cancer. Bob was born in Mankato, Minnesota to Clarence Schaible and Mildred Irene Anderson on September 26, 1940. He was the fifth born of 14 children. Bob attended high school in Amboy, MN and attended Mankato State College. He served in the Army from 1960 to 1963 and served a tour in Korea. He was married in 1962 to Carol Scherer at the First Presbyterian Church in Amboy, Minnesota and celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 30th. To that marriage were born 3 children, Dr. Brian Schaible (friend Joanne) of Longmont Colorado, Kelly Koehle (Martin) of Istanbul, Turkey and Kristi River (Richard) of Arvada, Colorado. Also surviving are 5 Grandchildren, Megan Koehle of Munich, Germany, Johannes Koehle of Munich, Germany, Alex River of Arvada, Maddy River of Arvada and Aiden River of Arvada. Bob worked at the Security National Bank of Amboy Minnesota after being honorably discharged from the Army Finance Division. In 1964, he and Carol moved to Loveland, Colorado and entered into the Texaco Service Station business. After 32 years of operation at The Dude Corral Texaco, 5th and Lincoln Texaco, and West Shore Texaco, Bob retired due to health reasons. In 1999 he received a heart transplant at the Mayo clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. In his retirement he worked at Kembel and Company during tax season. which was a great joy to him and it kept him busy. He is also survived by sisters Nancy Schaible of Mpls., Harriet Glacker of Madison Lake, MN, brother Thomas Schaible (Jan) of Eagle Lake, MN, sisters, Diane Patrick of Shakopee MN, Phyllis Brunswick (Mike) of Dayton, MN, Karen Thorman (Richard) of Paynesville, MN, and brother Steven Koehler (Barb) of Mpls. MN and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 6th at 10:30 at the First Christian Church, 2000 North Lincoln Ave. in Loveland. Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice in his honor.

I remember Bob taking care of our family cars at Westshore Texaco since we lived on West Shore Drive. Bob was always so helpful, kind, and eager to do "extras" when our car needed something. My parents also spoke highly of him. I felt sad hearing of his passing.
