Amelia Perkins Obituary

Amelia "Amie" Davis Perkins

Amelia Sally Lou Davis Perkins (Amie) went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the age of 86.

Amie was born November 5, 1934, in Lubbock, Texas to E. Dub and Lucile Kemp Davis. She graduated from Abilene High School, then went on to join the United States Navy in November 1953, and was stationed in Bainbridge, Maryland. While there, she met and married the love of her life, William (Bill) Perkins. After the service, Amie followed Bill into the ministry, where she held many different jobs, as a substitute teacher. They then retired in Clyde, where she loved watching birds, planting her flower beds and gardening.

She is survived by Lucile Taylor of Blackwell, Billie Perkins of Abilene, Marion and Candy Perkins and Nita Hale, all of Clyde; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Perkins; daughter Jean Perkins; her parents, E. Dub and Lucile Davis; a sister, May Hobbs; two brothers, Ray Davis and Jerry Foster; and a great-grandson, James, Jr.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at First United Methodist Church, 217 Oak Street in Clyde, with Monty Barnett officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene.

The family would like to thank Chisholm Place and Interim Hospice for the care they gave Amie.
