John "Jay" Williams Jr.

Abilene, TX

John "Jay" Williams Jr. passed away August 12 after giving a good fight to illness. You will be sorely missed Merkel Badger (Class 87). Jay was a kind man with a loving heart always smiling and laughing. Jay was born in Abilene, TX. to J.W. and Darline Williams on May 29,1968 He grew up in and attended schools in Merkel, TX. He loved playing football for Merkel High School. He loved being part of the Merkel FFA. He loved his classmates dearly. Jay also attended Howard College. He worked for Sears Methodist Center for 24 years and Abilene State Supported Living Center for 4 years. Anyone who knew Jay knew he always stood by "his" Dallas Cowboys. Jay was also proud to be a Mason. Most of all he loved attending SONRISE Ministries Church. Jay gained great fulfillment there and loved his dear church family. He loved his family dearly including his dog Shortie. Again you will be so missed. Until we see you again. We Love You.

Jay is survived by wife Maria Teresa Williams, son John Wesley Williams lll, Mother Darline Williams, Sister Judy Williams(Rufino), Sister Twila Webb, niece Erica Williams Webb(Louis) and children, nephew Ryan Williams(Britney) and children, nephew Gunner Webb, niece Megan Webb, father-in-law Bulmaro Medina, brother-in-law Bul Medina and several cousins and aunts and uncles.Jay was preceded in death by his father J.W. Williams Sr., paternal grandparents Ada and I.L. Williams, maternal grandparents Letha and Asa Bohrer, brother-in-law Dennis Webb,and mother-law Juanita Medina, and brother-in-law Victor Medina. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Doan, Justin Amerine, Dusty Moore, Douglas Taylor, Danny Santee, Ryan Williams Webb, and Gunner Webb.

A memorial service will be held at Ridgemont Baptist Church Thursday August 23 at 2 p.m. led by Pastor Brian Massey.

I am so sorry to hear about Jay. My husband and I knew Jay through David. I never saw Jay that he didn't have a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed.
