Johnny Lloyd Renfro

ABILENE, TX

Johnny Lloyd Renfro was born to Vivian Marie Renfro (Merritt) and James Sylvester Renfro in Pontiac, Michigan on September 20, 1955.

Johnny served his country as a Boiler Technician/Fireman on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1974 to 1976. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his family, especially his best friend and younger brother Jerry Stephen Renfro, who preceded him in death.

Johnny was also preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Jessica Hope Renfro.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 9 years, Debra Ann Renfro (New); step-children, Zackary Cass and Nicole Larance; step-grandchildren Damien, Destin, and Draven De La Cruz; brothers, Jim Renfro and Kenneth Renfro; sister and brother-in-law, Deb and Jim Mangum; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 5, 2016, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 West Lake Rd Abilene, TX 79601. Family visitation will follow at the conference center at the Whitten Inn University 1625 E I-20. Flowers will be accepted either location or memorials may be made to your the charity of your choice.

He was a great guy. Always in a good mood and telling corny jokes. I miss hearing him sing his Weird Al songs and him arguing with the refs on gameday when the Cowboys got a bad call. I just wish we could have spent a little more time together. I am proud to be his son. I love you and miss you Dad.

Though I was in military and not around Johnny much, I know that family was close. I remember that my Dad, Johnny's grandfather always referred to Johnny as John Dooley after the Song Tom Dooley. May God be with the family at this time.
