Ollie Pennington Obituary
San Angelo
Ollie B. Pennington, 76, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 in San Angelo, Texas. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home.
Ollie Mae Barrett was born November 30, 1936 in Stamford, Jones County, Texas to Thomas J. and Myrtle (McIlwain) Barrett, Jr. She lived on the family farm with her parents and two older sisters located southwest of Anson, Jones County, Texas. She attended elementary school in rural Anson. A few years later the family moved Carlsbad, New Mexico where she attended Carlsbad High School.
After high school, she worked for Sears as bookkeeper/cashier and American Bank of Carlsbad also as a bookkeeper. On January 4, 1959, Ollie married Woodrow (Woody) H. Pennington. During their marriage, Woody's employers moved them to various places, including Ethiopia. Woody passed away April 2, 2011 in Paris, Arkansas.
Ollie B. Pennington began working for Dyess AFB, TX in May 1976, working her way up as administrative secretary for the 39th Airlift Squadron. She retired in July 2002.
Ollie is survived by sisters, Mildred Jones Allen of Carlsbad, NM and Peggy (Ed) Vanyo of Grand Forks, ND; three nieces, Shirley (Hal) Cottingham of Carlsbad, NM, Barbara (Pat) Pyle of Spring, TX, and Tammy Leach of New York; two nephews, Donald (Liz) Burton of Ventura, CA, and David Leach of Grand Forks, ND; brother-in-law, Don Burton of Las Vegas, NV; and four grand-nephews, Brant Cottingham, Patrick Pyle, Kristopher Burton, and Eric Burton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, T.J. and Myrtle Barrett; sister, Audrey Burton; brother-in-law, Albert Jones; nephew, Richard Jones; and brother-in-law, Bob Allen.

Ollie was very loved where she stayed with us. She was a very loving and energetic person. I miss her dearly. She was always dancing and singing with us. Our favorite song we loved to sing was "You are My Sunshine". She is finally with our Lord up above and is finally resting. We love you and miss you Ollie. You will always be in our hearts!
