"Pete" went fishing with the Lord on May 2, 2010 in Abilene, TX.
Richard was born to Paul and Leola Reams Pullin on April 18, 1934 in Hatchel, Runnels County, TX. He graduated in 1952 in Winters, TX. He married his high school sweetheart and best friend Jo Ellen White on June 24, 1954 in Winters, TX. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He moved back to Texas and went into the oilfield supply business from Monahans to Abilene. In 1973 the opportunity came for him to move and open the Northern District of Fort Worth Pipe and Supply Company in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Richard stayed in the oil field supply business until he retired in 1995. He and Jo retired to Grove, OK on the Grand Lake O the Cherokees. Richard met many new friends there and everyone loved him. In 2004 several strokes took his speech and right arm which never slowed him down. He and Jo moved to Texas due to failing health in 2006. Richard loved his girls, grandkids, those great-grandbabies, fishing, boating, motorcycling and being with all of his great friends. Richard passed the Texas driving test with no problem even with one arm. He loved being with his dog Penny; she was a great companion to him. Richard was a member of the Methodist Church in Grove, OK and then in Abilene.
Illness set in on March 1st 2010 and took him at 11:20 a.m. on May 2, 2010. Richard passed with his family by his side.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Leola Reams Pullin and his dog and fishing buddy, Duke.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ellen of 55 years, daughters, Cathee Newberry-Terry and son-in-law Clifton Terry of Tuscola TX, Christie Lynn Overton and son-in-law Mike Overton of Boone, IA and Alicia Danelle and son-in-law Glen Ransom of St Peters, MO. Grandchildren, Trisha Corbett of Clyde, TX, Staci and husband Ryan Frerichs of Honolulu, Hawaii, Dusti and husband Bobby Dorman of Buffalo Gap, TX, Perry Overton of Boone, IA, Allston O'Neal of St. Peters, MO, Chelsea Terry of Tuscola, TX, Delaney, Hattie, Sydney and Gabbey Ransom of St. Peters, MO. Great Grandchildren, Cody and Bailey Corbett of Clyde, TX, Jayden and Tayler Dorman of Buffalo Gap, TX. Sisters-in-law, Ginger and husband Jim Helm of Abilene, TX and Linda Hall of Orange, TX.
Due to family being out of the main US the family is requesting that the service be at 2:00pm on the 14th day of May at the Southwest Drive United Methodist Church, 3025 Southwest Drive, Abilene Texas.
To honor Richard's memory his family requests that donations be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box1922, Abilene, TX 79604. The family would like to thank each and every one at Hospice for the fabulous care that they gave our loved one; we can never tell you what it meant to us.
