Sarah Parker Obituary
Winters
Sarah Julia Parker, 87, died at Winters Park Assisted Living and Memory Care in Garland, Texas, on June 6, 2012.
She was born in Dunn, Texas, May 19, 1925. She earned a B.S. in business in 1947 and a Master's in Education in 1961 from Abilene Christian University. From 1946 to 1987 she taught school in Sonora, Lamesa and Winters, Texas. She was a member of the Church of Christ where she taught a Ladies' Bible Class for many years. She was a member of the W Club at ACU and the Texas Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her sister, Callie Parker Mickey: her brother-in-law, Noble F. Patterson; five nieces, Marcene Patterson Herrick, Carisse Mickey Berryhill, Rita Patterson Orbison, Nancy Patterson Fowler and Lee Ann Patterson McKee, and their families; former fourth grade students in Winters from 1954 to 1987; and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis P. Parker and Ola Wood Parker; by her sister; Ellene Parker Patterson and by her brother-in law, Wayne Everitt Mickey.
Services will be Monday June 11, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at the North Main Church of Christ in Winters with Bill Young officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery directed by Winters Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Cornerstone Christian Preschool, P.O. Box 917, Sweetwater, Texas 79556; or Residents Activity Fund, Winters Park Assisted Living and Memory Care, 3450 Wagon Wheel Rd., Garland, Texas 75044; or a library.

Miss Parker was a wonderful woman that I didn't have as a teacher but my sister did. I had the pleasure of knowing her when I was growing up by seeing her and visiting with her at church. She touched many lives in her time here on earth. Not she is one of our guardian angels! God Bless, Love, Heather Brown

I never had the privledge of being one of her students, but in later life, I got to know her, and learned a lot about life from her. She will be missed, but the GLORY she will see ,will more than this world could ever offer. So fly away, Sarah

sarah parker was my fourth grade teacher. she opened up the world of books and writing for me in a way no other teacher did. as a 30 year teacher myself she inspired me to always do my best and love what i do. rest in peace miss parker, knowing you made such a positive impact on so many children.
