Freddy Anthony, born on October 19, 1962, in Anchorage, Alaska, passed away on February 3, 2026, at the University of Kansas Health System Olathe Hospital. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, known for his unwavering determination and passion for life.
Freddy's early years were spent growing up in the Shawnee area, where he attended school and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in the class of 1979. His career as a mechanic and shop foreman spanned over three decades, during which he contributed his skills and expertise to Heavy Metal Inc, Artistic Designs, and TLC Landscaping LLC before retiring.
In a heartwarming twist of fate, Freddy met his future wife, Angela Rinehart, at Goodtime Charlie's arcade in Shawnee. Their love blossomed, culminating in their marriage on May 18, 1984, at St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Shawnee. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Freddy was a passionate gearhead, with a particular love for cars, exemplified by his prized possession-a 1968 Chevelle that he devoted countless hours to building. He found joy in camping with his grandkids, tubing on sunny days, and spending time in his garage, where he often immersed himself in his projects. In his later years, he discovered a newfound pleasure in mowing the yard and beautifying the landscape.
He was known for being hard-headed and fiercely protective of his family, qualities that made him a strong and reliable figure in their lives. Freddy's enthusiasm for life and his determination to tackle challenges head-on were truly inspiring to those around him.
Freddy is survived by his loving wife, Angela Anthony, his daughters, Tabitha (Josh) Telken and Jessica (Kyle) Highberger, and his beloved grandchildren, Rylee, Reagan, Reese, and Roslynn Telken, along with Brooklyn Deweese and Kaedyn and Blakely Highberger. He is also remembered by his sister, Shari Anthony, and half-brother, Craig Mussells.
Freddy was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Katherine Anthony, as well as his sister, Beverly Lombardo, and brother, Glenn Sampson. His legacy of love, determination, and passion for life will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the American Legion Post 250, 403 S 9th Street, Louisburg, KS 66053.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to "Freddy's Last Lap". To honor his life-long love of the sport and history behind the wheel, we will be taking him to his favorite track, Talladega Super Speedway.
