JOE MCVEY Obituary

JOE EDWARD MCVEY Joe Edward McVey age 66 of Paola, KS died Thursday May 30, 2024 at his home. Joe was born October 1, 1957 in Garnett, KS. He was the third of four children born to Hillery Allen and Betty Maxine (Dozier) McVey. He attended school at Paola High School. In July of 1976, Joe enlisted in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged, Joe went to work for the State of Kansas as an inspector for 5 years. Then Joe started his career with Desco Coatings where he laid flooring. He worked for Desco for 31 years before his retirement in 2016. On April 7, 1978, Joe married Linda Diane Sprague in Benton, AR. Together they had three sons, Jem, Timothy and Johnathan. Joe enjoyed fishing, playing video games and animals. His most favorite thing was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Joe loved Jesus Christ and was saved. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Diane of the home, sons; Jem and (Gib) McVey, Timothy and (Haley) McVey, and Johnathon and (Cierra) McVey, four grandchildren; Blaine, Blair, Blaise, and Barry, Siblings; Terry McVey, Mitzi McCarty and Janet Becker. Graveside Service Wednesday, June 05, 2024 2 PM at Bucyrus Cemetery. Memorials are for the Grandchildren's College fund. Make checks out to Timothy McVey send c/o Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home P.O. Box 430, Osawatomie, KS 66064.
