Ed Clark Obituary

Our dear Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa, Leland Edgar "Ed" Clark, joined his sweetheart and parents on September 29, 2025. He was born on October 23, 1934, in Ashton, Idaho to Stanley Albert and Julia Etta Miller Clark. He married Carol Ann Jenson on May 1, 1957. Mom passed away during their 62nd year of marriage, and Dad has missed her deeply every minute since. Mom and Dad are survived by their children David Clark, Becky (Russ) Workman, Michael (Michelle) Clark, Jeannie (Greg) Johnson, Sheri (Gary) Trost, Kristi (Rob) Young, and Kaylie (Blake) Bowman, 31 grandchildren, and 53 great grandchildren. Dad is also survived by his brother Jay Clark and his sister Netta Hendrickson.

Dad worshiped whole-heartedly, served unselfishly, and worked diligently. He served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, first to the Southwest Indian Mission-Navajo as a young man. Later he and Mom served in the New Hampshire Manchester Mission, and to the England Leeds Mission. Missionary work was important to Mom and Dad, and their children and grandchildren have extended the Lord's love and their legacy across 11 states and 11 countries as missionaries. He humbly accepted many callings from the Lord, including Bishop, Stake President, Stake Patriarch, and Sealer in the Rexburg Temple. Almost all his 90 years were spent in Ashton, Idaho, but his influence is far reaching.

Dad served his country and his community. He served in the Army and was stationed for a time in Germany. Dad served as a member of the Board of Directors and also Chairman for the Fremont-Madison Irrigation District, on the Board of the Idaho Water Users Association and two years as Chairman of the Board of the National Water User's Association. He was a member and served two years as the Chairman of the Committee of Nine which is an advisory committee for Water District #1. He was also one of the founding members of the Henry's Fork Watershed Council. He enjoyed the friendships he developed in those roles.

Dad worked hard farming and ranching, but also found time for a bit of fun. Several summer days were spent water skiing on the Snake River. He took us camping yearly at Island Park Reservoir with several other families who are life long friends. Dad was an exceptional athlete. He loved basketball, football, hunting, water skiing, snow skiing, and horseback riding. He was inducted into the Ricks College Football Hall of Fame in 1991.

Dad was grateful for his dear wife, large family, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m on Friday, October 3. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., and Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Ashton LDS Stake Center, 516 North 2nd Street Ashton, Idaho. Interment will be in the Ashton Pineview Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.

I am so sad that I missed this obituary until after his funeral. I was one of the missionaries in the New Hampshire, Manchester mission and was very close to Brother and Sister Clark. They were my parents away from home and have always loved them so much. I am so grateful I was able to see them both at President Hobbs funeral a few years ago. I love him and Carol so much!
