Sharon Hinckley Obituary
Sharon Parkinson Hinckley, 93, of Rexburg, Idaho-our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend-passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Born on Father's Day, June 19, 1932, in Rexburg, Sharon was the oldest child of Van and Sadie Parkinson, and the cherished sister of Kay, Edmond, and Joyce. She graduated from Madison High School in 1951 and continued her education at BYU, Ricks College, and Cosmetology School while her sweetheart, Donald, served in the Korean War. She spent her early years between family farms in Blackfoot and Clementsville and a home in Rexburg.
On August 28, 1953, Sharon married Donald P. Hinckley in the Idaho Falls Temple. Rexburg remained their home for most of their married life. Sharon operated a successful beauty salon from their home before later assisting Donald in his accounting practice. Together, they found joy
in simple and grand adventures alike-time at their Island Park cabin, motorcycle trips to Mexico and Canada, and memorable vacations to Hawaii and Fiji.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sharon served faithfully in many callings. She also gave generously to her community, including five decades of service with the Rexburg Civic Club.
Sharon and Donald were married 49 years, until his passing in 2001. They raised three children who blessed them with a large and loving posterity: 15 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
She is survived by her children Kris (Diana) Hinckley of South Carolina, Kim (Jerry) Muir of Rexburg, and Kirt (Brenda) Hinckley of Texas; and by her sisters Kay Barrick and Joyce Hiiva. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald P. Hinckley, her brother Edmond Parkinson,
and a great-granddaughter, Joie Kartchner.
Sharon was unfailingly kind and compassionate, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be warmly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the Henry's Fork Stake Center, 1508 W 3000 N, Rexburg. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and again Saturday, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both times at the stake center. The interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
