Wendy Vernon Obituary
Wendy Marie Vernon, age 48, passed away in Couer d'Alene Idaho on Wednesday, October 29th, as the result of an undiagnosed heart condition. Wendy Marie Vernon was born on Thursday, March 10, 1977 in Rexburg, Idaho. She was a healthy baby and a cherished addition to her family. Wendy crawled, walked, and talked early. She was energetic and loved by her older sister and three older brothers.
Wendy graduated from Sugar Salem High School and received an Associate Degree from Ricks College (BYU-Idaho). She worked in a variety of occupations, but her favorite and most recent was as a dental assistant in Spokane, Washington. Wendy loved the outdoors and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. She enjoyed biking, long walks, multiple music genres, playing family games, and spending time with loved ones. She was loved for her outgoing personality and ready smile. She was described by many friends and loved ones as bringing light into every room she entered. When she was younger and in high school she was involved in gymnastics, cheerleading, volleyball and basketball. She was also a member of multiple school and institute choirs. She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice.
When she was 18, and a month before she graduated from high school, she lost her mother from a long battle with cancer. Navigating that loss was particularly difficult, but she was still trying to grow in positive ways despite that and other trials in her life. The month before she died, she commented that, she knew she had to be patient, keep trying, and working to become a better version of herself. She knew if she could do this, the important things in her life would work out. She had come to recognize how important relationships with family were. Because of that, she expressed gratitude for her time with her children's father, Jason, that allowed her 3 children to come to their family. She said that her children were in her thoughts and heart every day as she was trying to become a better person and mother.
Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward and Onetta Vernon, Grant and Florence Packer, and her mother, Maurine Packer Vernon. She is survived by her father, Kent Vernon and his wife Rita; her children, Hannah, Dade, and Landon Buer; her siblings, Brenda (Toms) Law, Todd (Jill) Vernon, Craig (Liliana) Vernon, Jonathan (Peggy) Vernon, and Tyler Vernon. Wendy will be remembered for her ability to get along with people from all walks of life and her sunny personality, but most importantly, that she was determined to walk forward one day at a time to make herself and her life better in all the most important ways. A memorial service will be held in her honor at the LDS church on 25 West 3rd Street, Sugar City Idaho, on November 22nd at 10:30 a.m.
