Alexander Duff Obituary

Alexander "Al" Gordon

DUFF

Alexander passed away at the Reno VA Hospital surrounded by his loving family on June 6, 2009. He was born on June 3, 1936 to Bertha Reeves of Maine and Alexander Duff of Scotland.

He served in the military from 1954 to 1975 and retired as a Tech-Sergeant, and then went on to retire with 18 years of service with the Post Office. While he was in the military, Al was stationed in Germany where he met the love of his life, his wife of 46 years, Edeltraud. Alexander's life was his family. He was very generous, caring, and giving with his family. He not only raised his own three children, but raised a grandson from age seven. He loved his wife's cooking and had a belly to show for it, which he wore like a badge of honor.

Alexander was preceded in death by his mother and father and sister, Lorraine. He is survived by his son, Michael Duff (Amber); daughters, Susan Barela (Edwin) and Carol Hyatt all of Sparks; grandchildren, Autumn Duff, Joseph Barela, David Barela, Troy Hyatt, Brianna Barela, Hunter and Haley Duff; great-grand daughter, Kenzi Clark; sister, Lorette Dohorerty and her family of Massachusetts, and many other extended family members from the Boston area and in Germany.

At his request, there will be no service. There will be a small family service celebrating his wonderful life.

Al was a wonderful man and a great friend to my father. I imagine them in heaven challenging each other to the cribbage championship of the world. I will miss him. I hope that the family's pain from his loss heals quickly.
