Arthur Woodring Obituary
- - Arthur Jay Woodring II passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, and Kindred Hospital in San Leandro, California. Art succumbed to inevitable decline from severe head injuries sustained in an ATV accident near Sierraville, California, on Sept 13, 2017.
Art "Jay" was born in Reno, Nevada, on April 19, 1979, at Saint Mary's Hospital. He lived in Reno and went to Montessori preschool and then Kate Smith Elementary School until moving to Concord, California, where he attended Ayers Elementary School, Pine Hollow Middle School, and Clayton Valley High School. Upon his return to Reno, he attended Hug High School and Truckee Meadows Community College. After navigating early adulthood struggles, Art "Jay" found a wonderful family of friends in beautiful Sierra Valley where he worked in maintenance at Sierra Hot Springs.
Art's impressive 6'6" height and lanky frame may have been the first thing you noticed about him, but if you were fortunate enough to spend time in his company, you came to know his gentle and compassionate nature. Art enjoyed many activities, not the least of which was a passion for computer games. His adventures included scuba diving, skydiving on his 18th birthday, and most recently, hiking Mount Woodring with his Dad. Mount Woodring, in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, is named for a family ancestor who was the first Superintendent of Grand Teton National Park.
Arthur Jay's spirit lives on in his family and many friends. He is survived by his parents Anne Woodring, Mike Woodring & Ruth Ann Kishi, his brother John Woodring, Grandmother Sondra Griffiths, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his wonderful extended family of loving friends in Reno, NV, Sierraville, Loyalton, and Calpine, CA.
Services will be held on January 20, 2018, at 12:00 PM at the Calpine Lodge, 103 Main Street, Calpine, California 96124.

He was good lad. Always led with a smile. Last time I saw him was at him Mothers Birthday party, and he was keeping good track of her. This is a tough loss, but he is at peace. Jon
