Dallas Block Obituary

Dallas Adele Corle Waters Crane Block

September 7, 1923

June 29, 2014

After a long battle with cancer, Dallas passed away June 29, 2014 in her home in Carson City. Her loving husband Ed and her son Royce were by her side.

She attended South Side Elementary School, Northside Junior High School, Reno High School, and attended the University of Nevada, Reno for two years. Dallas was a member of Phi Beta Phi Sorority.

Dallas met Raymond Alan Waters, Jr during World War II while working as a secretary at the Stead Air Base. They married and moved to New Jersey where she completed her undergraduate degree in elementary education and her master's degree in reading. She worked as a first grade teacher and reading specialist in Haworth, New Jersey.

She moved back to Reno in 1972 and took a job as a special education teacher at Hug High School where she was the department chair for over ten years. She retired from a special education transition specialist position in the late 1980s.

Dallas is survived by a loving husband, Edward Block; a sister Eleanor Lee; a son Dale Waters, wife Joan; son Royce Waters, wife Carrie and granddaughter Kate; daughter Dallas McCord, husband Sam and granddaughters Morgan and Casey.

Those pre deceased: Father, Father Fred W. Corle and mother, Nellie Jones Corle, Uncle William T Jones, Brother Rear Admiral Fredrick W. Corle and husbands Raymond Alan Waters, Jr and Keith Crane.

Dallas dearly loved her husband, her children and grandchildren, her dog, and her involvement with special education and masonic organizations. Her relationship with her husband, Ed, fulfilled a lifelong goal.

A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Mortuary at 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Daughters of the Nile Foundation for Shrine Hospitals for Children.

May the Lord bless you. Mrs Waters was a great woman that I will carry in my thoughts and in my heart for ever. She not only showed me how to read, she prepared me for life and how to become who I am today. My condolences.
