David Emanuel Gibbs Reed

David Emanuel Gibbs Reed was born is Nassau British West Indies September 10, 1947. His mother, Claudia, and David moved to the United States, mainly Oakland California on February 23, 1948. Claudia married and David was raised in a large family. While in high school, David developed a great love for music and became a percussionist; and was invited many times to play with the Oakland symphony. David was drafted into to the Army while in college and completed two tours in Vietnam. After coming home, David continued for a short time in the National Guard. David worked for Lockeed, Air Cal and eventually retired from American Airlines. David loved to race and rebuild cars, fishing, camping, boating and hunting. David and his wife and son have traveled extensively. David was extremely skillful at barbequing and has spent many years hosting parties attended by many friends. David remained close to his American Airlines family for many years and they often came to visit him toward the end of his life. David gently passed away at his home with wife and his son by his side on the morning of October 14, 2012. David is survived by his wife, Mary Munsell Reed, his son, David J. Reed Jr., his mother and step-father, Claudia B. Slaughter - Mullen and Joseph D. Mullen, his father and step-mother, Robert E. Reed and Geneva V. Reed, his aunt Paula Fernandez, his uncle Paul Fernandez, his siblings, Renee D. Reed, Edward A. Reed, Pamila A. Reed, Davis Hudson, Tina Reed (Verna M. Thierry), Michaels Charles Slaughter, Charise B. Slaughter- Christianson, Christie L. Slaughter, Kimberly C. Slaughter, his nine nephews, 5 nieces, 1 great nephew and 2 great nieces and many wonderful friends and acquaintances.

The service will be November 3, 2012 at 1pm located at Grace Tabernacle Church of God at 1286 Commerce St. Sparks, NV 89431; Officiated by Reverend Norris Dupree

Mary,
My mind is full of wonderful memories of you and David. David was a beautiful man. Always a smile and a hug....I will never forget those early days and of course all of the lifetime events that we shared. I have tried to find you...contact you, but have had no luck.
