Deborah Bader Obituary

Deborah Lee Bader

Sparks - Deborah Lee Bader, MSN/Ed, passed away at home unexpectedly, surrounded by her loving "kids"; dogs Howard, Ivan, Danya and her two cats. She was born January 15th, 1962, in San Francisco to Lowell F. and Jean Finlayson Bader and was raised in the family home in Terra Linda, CA, by her parents and her loving grandmother, Mabel Finlayson. Deb graduated from Terra Linda High School in 1980 and moved to Carson City shortly thereafter. She graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Western Nevada Community College in 1986 and followed her mother into the field of nursing in Carson -Tahoe Regional Medical Center. She then continued her education at UNR, obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 2001 while working in various physicians' offices and at St. Mary's Medical Center. In 2006 she graduated from UNR with a Master of Science in Nursing. Eventually, she migrated to the teaching field and taught in the Nursing School at Truckee Meadows Community College as an Associate Professor for many years until her death.

She enjoyed spending time with her dogs and cats and her many friends. Her beloved pets were able to find immediate loving homes with her friends, which she would have greatly appreciated. She is survived by her father, Lowell "Pete" Bader; her cousins, June Upchurch and daughter April Fredrickson (Sean); Linda Phillips (Byron); and Daniel Finlayson and family. She is also survived by her aunts, Margo Stratton; Sandy Taborski; and Donna McElroy and numerous cousins.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Walton's Sparks Funerals and Cremations, 1745 Sullivan Lane, Sparks, NV 89431. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nevada Humane Society, Reno, NV, in her name.

I have known Debbie since I believe kindergarten at Don Timoteo in Terra Linda. She lived just up the street from me, and I have so many fond memories of our childhood together - Blue Birds, Camp Fire Girls, camping in the East By MUD, singing "oh San Rafael, oh San Rafael, oh where the hell is San Rafael" in her parent's car, etc. Life took us in different directions, but with Facebook, we were able to reconnect, and I so enjoyed getting to know her and her "kids" over these past few years. Debbie's sudden passing has both shocked and sadden me, as I am sure it has so many others. Rest in Peace Debbie - your memory lives on.

I am so saddened, shocked and sorry to hear about sweet Deb. I have childhood memories of her since elementary school & as Bluebirds, and more recently we shared the love & interests of our pets & our 49ers. Being the passionate Nurse & Professor she was, she coached me with my daughter who is now an RN. Debbie was always sweet, kind & caring, and she will be greatly missed. I have made a donation to the Nevada Humane Society in memory of the best "Pet Mom" ever. Her family is in my thoughts & prayers. With lots of love, Kathy

So sad to hear of Debbie's passing, she was gone too soon. Enjoyed talking with her the last 8 years about our German Shepherd Dogs who were brothers. Glad brother Iven has found a new forever home.

Debbie and I met just before her 40th birthday, which 6 of us celebrated in Cabo with her. She was a great traveler, calm, matter-of-fact, steady, up for any adventure!
We went parasailing over the bay and Los Arcos... ATVing on the remote beach dunes...kayaking and snorkeling...amassed great fortune + blankets + tequila sitting through sometimes hideous timeshare presentations! Debbie bought a week and made her own adventures at Cabo Villa as it grew. Later that year, our same six went to Tuscany for an extended stay. They were the best trips of my life, and I wasn't alone in feeling that. A Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants sort of thing.
Sending heartfelt wishes for peace and healing to Debbie's family. She sent a special light into the world, and she is missed deeply.

My sincere condolences to your family. May God "who comforts us in all our trials" (2 Cor 1:4) comfort you and your family at such a difficult time. I know God will help you to endure because he cares for you (1Peter 5 :7).

I am so very sorry, I am in shock! I grew up with Debbie on Terra Linda Dr, I have so many memories of fun, happy times playing games outside, swimming, blue birds, camp fire girls and the kindness her family showed ours when our father passed away in 1967. Debbie, you will be forever missed, but always in our hearts...Ellen Miller- Robertson
