Dianne Fernandez Obituary

Dianne Maree Fernandez

December 11, 1948

November 19, 2015

Dianne Maree Fernandez (born Dianne Nistler) passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday November 19th, 2015 from an unexpected terminal brain tumor. Dianne was born in San Francisco on December 11th, 1948 at 0350 in the morning to Lawrence J. Nistler and Deloris M. Nistler. She was their first-born child and would later be joined by her sister Patsy and brother Steve. Dianne spent some of her childhood in San Bruno, CA before the family moved to Reno, NV where she would eventually graduate from high school. Afterward she decided to return to her roots and moved back to San Francisco during its heyday as a city of love. She later moved to the Santa Cruz mountains and then to the Santa Rosa area where her son Forest was born. Eventually Dianne returned to Reno and was married and gave birth to her daughter Rachel. Up until 2005 she lived in Reno near her mother, brother, sister and extended family but then returned to the Sacramento area to be near her children.

Dianne always took pride in the fact that she was a "fire sign," or Sagittarius, and indeed lived her life with an admirable energy and zest. She worked in various trades; flight attendant, loan officer, sales representative. She was known to be spontaneous and sometimes "by the seat of her pants," but this allowed her to enjoy life and stay true to her heart. She loved travel, good food, chocolate, wine, beer, history and science, learning, and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren Sierra and Caleb were her pride and joy and no one ever doubted her love for them. It is truly everlasting.

Dianne is survived by her mother Deloris and her children, grandchildren, sister, brother and extended family. She will be missed dearly but her living legacy of "say it with love" will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. We miss you Mom.

Per Dianne's request there will be no formal service but a private family gathering will be held.

So many memories Dianne.....but the one that speaks to me of your zest for life and willingness to go your own way was the day you gathered seaweed on the beach and spread it out to dry for our lunch! No one had a bigger heart.....will miss you.

Forest, Sorry to hear about your mom's passing. She was a memorable person. I remember she did a couple promotions as a celebrity look alike.
