Doris Ruiz Obituary
Doris Dulgar Ruiz died May 19, 2021 in Henderson, Nevada. Born to parents Rex and Amma Dulgar on November 13, 1929 in Sparks, she was a graduate of Sparks High School, attended Cottey College and Washington State University. During college and in her later years she was an active member of PEO and Delta Kappa Gamma. She taught for many years at Reno High School ultimately chairing the Home Economics Department.
In 1967 she married Salvador Anthony Ruiz and together they served the community (especially through the Lions Club), were members of the Holy Cross Catholic Community, entertained extensively and enjoyed traveling. Joyous family holiday celebrations were their specialty.
Doris is predeceased by her husband, Salvador. She is survived by her daughter Jeanelle (Scott) Ghertner of Henderson, step-daughters Emory Ruiz (David Taft) of San Francisco and Marion (Bart) Kessler of Portland, Oregon as well as grandchildren Daniel (Rebecca), Elayna and Elizabeth and great-grandson, Tucker. Extended family includes Leo Ruiz, Irene Elsrode, Theresa Elsrode, Brenda (Peter) Vasquez, Anna Marie Melita, John Ruiz, Krista (Rick) Lawson and their families.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 2nd from 10:00 - 12:00 at Walton Funeral Home, 875 W. 2nd St. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Catholic Community, 5650 Vista Blvd, Sparks. Interment will be held at Sierra Memorial Gardens.
