Earlene Absher passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center in Reno, NV on July 26, 2013. Earlene was born April 29, 1942 in Safford, AZ as a World War II baby. She was raised by a single mother and was the fifth of six children. Earlene attended high school in Quapaw, OK and was the first child in her family to graduate. She attended college in Kentucky and Nevada. Earlene married Terrence Kingsley Absher in July of 1961 in Miami, OK. She and her husband moved to Reno in 1963. In 1972 she joined the LDS Church. She worked as a telephone receptionist until she became a mother, at which time she stayed at home for 15 years raising three children. After raising her children, she then returned to work at the University of Nevada, Reno where she worked for over twenty years. Eventually, she became the office administrator in the Department of Electrical Engineering, in the College of Engineering. Her other great loves in life were classical music, playing the piano, science fiction, old movies, and cooking world cuisines.

Earlene is survived by her husband of 52 years and 26 days, Terrence Kingsley Absher, and by her three children: Allison of Salem, OR; Aaron and his wife Sabrina of Sparks, NV; and Amy of Sparks, NV. Earlene is also survived by two grandchildren: Jessa Wagner of Reno, NV and Bradley Absher of Pasadena, MD. She is also survived by her brothers Jerry Wayne Martin of Riverton, KS and Winston Earl Crum Jr. of Reno, NV.

Earlene was preceded in death by her parents Winston Earl Crum Sr. and Lillie Fern Wood as well as by three of her siblings: Bill Martin, Dixie Johnston, and Jim Martin.

A service of remembrance was held Tuesday, July 30 at 5:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2955 Rock Blvd in Sparks following a viewing and brief eulogy at Walton's Funeral Home at 875 West Second St. in Reno from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.

We had babies about a month apart and spent many times together sharing and nursing our babies. Just thought of her as I looked at a cornbread recipe you gave me in the 1980s. She's in heaven and I'm struggling with pain from old age

Aunt Earlene helped raise my children and taught them about religion. I have lots of great memories of you sweet lady. She had a quirky sense of humor and a beautiful smile. She loved her children and church more than anything. Love you Aunt Earlene.

Sister Absher was my teacher in Mutual. I will certainly miss her! I have many fond memories of those days.
