Edward Anderson Obituary

Edward George Anderson

Reno - On the morning of Monday, December 7, 2020, Edward George Anderson, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 68.

Ed was born on January 13, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to parents Mary and Marlowe Anderson. As a teenager, he moved to Reno, NV where he graduated from Wooster High School before earning an Electrical Engineering Degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Upon returning to Reno, he embarked on an engineering career with Sierra Pacific Power Company for 25 years and spent an additional 17 years as Director of Network Services for the Nevada System of Higher Education.

Ed was a long-time member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. It was there that he met and fell in love with his bride-to-be, Elizabeth Schuster. Together they had five rambunctious sons, ensuring that there would never be a dull moment in the house.

Ed was a gentle soul who was quiet and reserved on most occasions, but could lighten up a room with a joke told through a coy smile and a sparkle in his eye. He was passionate about exercise: enjoying skiing, golfing and weightlifting, among others. He loved to spend time with friends and family and took great pride in perfecting barbeque recipes. He was a man of many talents and joys, who possessed an uncanny ability to yell words of warning seconds after it was too late. He was calm, patient, and kind. He treasured his family above all else, and tenaciously supported his sons; having taught survival skills in boy scouts, spent 12 years as a little league coach, and could deafen ears with piercing whistles and cheers.

He relished his role of Papa to his three grandchildren, spending countless afternoons sipping tea, playing with dolls, and playing peek-a-boo.

Ed is survived by his wife Elizabeth Anderson; sons Adam (Erin), Ian, Peter (Justine), Jacob (Sarina), and Matthew; grandchildren Scarlett, Lyra, and Liam; and his sister Gail Sande. He will be greatly missed and will stay in our hearts forever. Services will be limited due to COVID-19.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Resource Center https://lewybodyresourcecenter.org

Ed was my "mentor" in the old Measurements and Test Department at Sierra when I was still a student engineer. Great guy, very good engineer.
So sorry to hear he's passed.
